August Webinar Offers Training on Messianic Outreach
Join MISSION U School of Witnessing on Saturday, August 18th, as we kick off the 2012-2013 year with a live web broadcast on Messianic Outreach.
Reverend Jim Weist of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Shaker Heights, Ohio, will talk about how to be faithful to God's call from Romans 1:16 that says, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes; first to the Jew, then to the gentile."
Learn of one congregation's approach to sharing the gospel with Jews in Cleveland and recognize opportunities for your area.
This webinar will take place at 10 a.m. central on Saturday, August 18th. Please click on this link the morning of the webinar to participate: http://connectpro31217790.adobeconnect.com/messianicoutreach. Once you arrive there, click on "Enter as Guest." Then select your own screen name.

LHM to Sponsor a Summer Outreach Concert for the St. Louis Area
LHM's teen program five14 is producing a night of free, outdoor entertainment for teens and young adults in the St. Louis metro. This outreach event, coined The five14 Revolution, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. on August 11th at the beautiful Chesterfield Amphitheater. It's located at 631 Veteran's Place Drive, Chesterfield, Missouri.
The five14 Revolution combines "live" music from three Christian bands of different genres, "live" drama from a professional team of actors, and challenging videos-all of which will prompt attendees to wrestle with this vital question: "Are you ready for a change?" To this question, Jesus Christ is the ultimate game changer, the definitive revolutionary. He has made a change possible for each of us through His sacrifice on the cross.
Please spread the news about this awesome event and bring your youth group! This outreach event is all about seeing lives changed in St. Louis because of Jesus Christ. Christian teens are encouraged to bring a friend to hear the Gospel spoken through modern language. There will be free food and great prizes too!
Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with LHM staff and five14 presenters at a prayer table where they will also receive encouragement to connect with a local church.
You can find the promo video and further information at the five14 home page, http://whatsfive14.com. To request a promo package, please email five14@lhm.org. You can also check in and RSVP at http://facebook.com/five14.
New LHM Television Special Will Offer Insights about Church-State Issues
It's no secret that recent actions by the government have impacted the church-as well as the relationship under which church and state have operated since the founding of the United States. We hear the phrase "separation of church and state" bandied about quite often-but what is the reality of the relationship? A new television special from Lutheran Hour Ministries addresses this tough question.
The Intersection of Church & State, hosted by Speaker of The Lutheran Hour Rev. Gregory Seltz, explores how the First Amendment to the Constitution was crafted to protect both the civil government and organized religion and to provide a framework within which the two can often work together.
The Intersection of Church & State features careful scholarship and lively commentary by experts on faith and citizenship. The hour-long program will air on selected networks this fall; for program and listing details, visit www.intersectionofchurchandstate.com.
Coming soon: a Men's NetWork Bible study on The Intersection of Church & State! Stay tuned!

Topics and speakers are still being selected for this year. Please tell us what outreach and evangelism needs your congregation has or that you have personally; and we will work to meet these needs.
Email your ideas to missionu@lhm.org by August 7th. These upcoming dates and topics will be shared in the August edition of Equipping You through MISSION U.
